Sony Bank Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings Inc., will begin offering the Sony Bank App on Monday, February 25, 2019.
The Sony Bank App enables customers to conduct banking activities--such as checking account balances, making transfers, and conducting foreign currency ordinary deposit transactions--simply and conveniently from their smartphones. In addition to checking account balance movements for the past year, the app provides a shortcut function that enables customers to move to the smartphone site at a single tap after logging in on individual products. This app also contains a push-type notification function, providing notices such as campaign information, market news, economic indicators and others. Customers can choose any one of three login methods: biometric authentication*, pattern recognition and PIN code verification. The app can be downloaded for free from Google Play or the App Store.
This app will also have a one-time password display function, a "smartphone authentication method" available exclusively for Sony Bank App users. The smartphone authentication method enables transaction authentication**, ensuring safety and convenience when making new transfers.
Sony Bank aims to continue providing highly convenient financial services going forward.
* Fingerprint authentication and Face ID are used. (Both are available only on compatible devices.)
** A one-time password for a dedicated transferee is automatically generated according to the transfer details. By acting as an intermediary between the customer and the bank, this provides an effective security countermeasure to such threats as taking over communication transactions or falsifying transactions.
