Sony Assurance Inc., a wholly-owned non-life insurance subsidiary of Sony Financial Holdings, today announced that it will offer an additional cancer treatment insurance policy, MEDCOM, on its websites through an alliance with SECOM General Insurance Co., Ltd. ("SECOM Insurance") from June 1, 2009.
MEDCOM is a type of exclusive cancer treatment insurance available in Japan that covers the entire portion of cancer treatment not covered by Japan's national health insurance scheme, as well as the cost of cancer treatment that involves hospital visits but not hospitalization.
Sony Assurance offers SURE medical and cancer insurance that covers unlimited number of days of hospitalization for cancer treatment.
Therefore through the combination of MEDCOM and SURE, Sony Assurance hopes to help remove policyholders' financial concerns from the difficulties associated with undergoing cancer treatment.
